MapTiler
MapToPlay can show a satellite preview of the area you are about to map. The imagery comes from MapTiler, an independent company, and it is requested with a MapTiler API key that you bring from your own MapTiler account. The preview is optional, and everything else in MapToPlay works without it.
What the MapTiler integration does
The MapToPlay project wizard can display satellite imagery for the area you are about to map, so you can see the terrain before creating the project. That imagery is drawn from map tiles served by MapTiler.
The preview stays off until you enable it and select a MapTiler API key saved for your team. MapToPlay provides the connection to MapTiler and nothing more: it does not own, host, produce, licence, or resell the imagery you see.
Bring your own key, and what that means
This integration is bring-your-own-key, often shortened to BYOK. It means MapToPlay supplies the technical connection and you supply the key that authorises and pays for the requests. Your integration is yours.
In practice: you create your own MapTiler account, pick your own plan, generate your own API key, and select it in MapToPlay. You must own that account or be expressly authorised to use it. MapToPlay does not create a MapTiler account for you and does not give you access to anyone else’s.
MapToPlay does not provide a shared key, a bundled key, a fallback key, a trial key, a pooled account, free tiles, credits, boosts, top-ups, allowances, or a map licence of any kind. There is no MapToPlay-owned MapTiler access waiting behind this feature. If your key stops working, the preview stops working.
MapToPlay is not affiliated with MapTiler
MapToPlay and MapTiler are separate and unrelated. MapToPlay is not affiliated with, sponsored by, endorsed by, certified by, an agent or reseller of, or in a partnership or joint venture with MapTiler, and has no influence over how MapTiler runs its service.
MapTiler, its logos, service names, imagery, and map data belong to MapTiler and its data licensors. They appear in MapToPlay only to identify the service you have chosen to connect.
What reaches MapTiler
While the preview is on, your browser requests map tiles from MapTiler directly. MapTiler receives the API key you selected, your IP address, the location and zoom level being viewed, and the ordinary technical details that accompany a web request.
Those requests travel between your browser and MapTiler, so MapToPlay cannot see, filter, restrict, or account for what MapTiler does with them. MapTiler alone decides how that data is handled.
MapTiler’s privacy policy is MapTiler’s
How MapTiler collects, uses, stores, shares, retains, and deletes data is governed by its own documents, including the MapTiler Cloud Terms, the MapTiler Privacy Policy, and the MapTiler map data licence and attribution information. MapToPlay does not write, manage, review, approve, negotiate, or enforce any of them, and cannot change them on your behalf.
MapTiler may change those documents at any time without notifying MapToPlay or you. Read the current versions before you enable the preview, and again while you keep using it.
Any request about data MapTiler holds — access, correction, deletion, restriction, or objection — goes to MapTiler. MapToPlay cannot make or answer it for you.
Keys, plans, limits, and charges
Everything commercial about MapTiler happens outside MapToPlay: choosing a plan, paying for it, watching your request count, handling overages, and dealing with an invoice, a downgrade, or a suspension.
MapToPlay does not sell, resell, sublicense, pool, or redistribute MapTiler access, and does not provide credits, boosts, top-ups, discounts, or allowances of any kind. It does not judge whether your plan suits your project or whether a preview will fit inside your remaining quota.
MapToPlay does not reimburse MapTiler charges or usage consumed by any request. You are also responsible for displaying the attribution MapTiler and its data licensors require, and for using imagery only as they permit.
No guarantees about the preview or the imagery
MapToPlay provides the connection and the preview, and provides them as they are. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, MapToPlay makes no representation or warranty about availability, continuity, licensing status, non-infringement, or fitness for any particular purpose.
What the preview shows depends on the imagery available for the area you picked and the zoom level you are viewing. Treat it as a rough look and check the area yourself before you rely on it.
If MapTiler changes something on its side
MapTiler controls its own API, pricing, plans, terms, authentication, tile formats, coverage, and availability, and can change or withdraw any of them at any time without notice to MapToPlay or to you.
MapToPlay follows those changes as they happen, and may add, change, suspend, restrict, or remove the integration at any time. MapToPlay owes no refund, credit, or compensation for a change made on either side.
Turning it off and removing your key
The preview is off until you enable it, and you can stop using it at any time by turning it off or by not selecting a key.
Saved provider credentials are kept encrypted for your team and used only for the integration an authorised team member selects. Because team membership changes, decide deliberately which team may use a key, remove it when that is no longer appropriate, apply MapTiler-side restrictions where they are offered, watch your usage, and rotate or revoke the key if you suspect it has been exposed or misused.
Removing a key from MapToPlay does not revoke it at MapTiler. Revoke it in your MapTiler account as well.
Who to ask
MapToPlay can help with the MapToPlay side: where the setting lives, what the wizard does with your selection, and whether the interface is behaving.
Anything about your MapTiler account, key, plan, invoice, charge, quota, licence, imagery, or coverage goes to MapTiler. MapToPlay cannot open, escalate, or resolve a case on your behalf.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, MapToPlay is not liable for any loss or damage arising from MapTiler, your MapTiler account, a compromised or misused key, a MapTiler charge, an unavailable or removed integration, data transmitted to MapTiler, MapTiler’s processing of that data, or your use of or reliance on anything obtained through the integration. Nothing in this notice excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
