Stronghold and Stronghold Crusader Maps From Real Places

Create maps for Stronghold: Definitive Edition and Stronghold Crusader: Definitive Edition from real terrain, then finish them in each game’s Map Editor.

Hey guys.

Stronghold: Definitive Edition and Stronghold Crusader: Definitive Edition are now export choices in MapToPlay. Pick a real place, prepare its terrain and vectors in a Project V2 map, then choose the game you want to play. Each has its own map sizes and a native .map download.

The map brings across relief, forests, and water. In the Editor, you can draw Sea and Rivers, place quarry Boulders and Iron ore, and mark Marsh with Oil for pitch rigs. Rocks are decorative; Boulders are the ones your quarry workers can use. I suspect they will appreciate the distinction.

If you leave boulders, iron, or oil unpainted, MapToPlay adds a starting deposit for that resource. The result is a square crop from the centre of your project, so keep the places that matter near the middle. The export dialog shows the size and Task unit cost before you start.

This is a starting map, not a ready scenario. Open the download in the game’s Map Editor, place the keeps and lords, choose the scenario details, and save it. There are no castles or units in the export. A short README shows where the map goes.

Both games have complete export integrations. Check relief, water edges, and resource access in the game before sharing a map. A real river has never shown much interest in castle balance.
