Euro Truck Simulator 2 Map Workflow
Build a Euro Truck Simulator 2 map from a real place, with roads and AI traffic, bridges, tunnels, railways and scenery, and drive it in the game.

Use MapToPlay to build a Euro Truck Simulator 2 map of a real place: its terrain, roads with AI traffic, bridges, tunnels, railways, forests, water and buildings. You work in the Editor, download an export and install it in the game as a map mod.
Euro Truck Simulator 2 is currently listed as Preview. You place every feature of the map yourself in the Editor; this game has no automatic map generation. Save versions as you work, and test a small map before you build a large one.
Follow this order
Create a project with Euro Truck Simulator 2 selected as the game. Choose the place and the tile size, then process terrain, imagery and OSM data. When processing finishes, open the Editor.
- Import the terrain, imagery and vectors. Check that they line up, then prepare the terrain.
- Review the ground, water and forests, and assign buildings.
- Set road widths, build the roads in Road Constructor and choose lane directions for AI traffic.
- Add bridges where roads cross valleys and tunnels where they run through hills.
- Give railway lines a track, with an overhead line where the railway is electrified.
- Add road signs, street lights, guardrails, power lines, fences and rocks.
- Wait for saving, export the project and drive the map in the game.
Use the Editor checklist
Open the checklist button beside Windows in the Editor header. The Map checklist follows the same order as this guide and shows your progress.
Some steps are checked automatically when you import layers or save assignments. Click a step to mark it complete or reopen it. Skip features your map does not need, such as tunnels or railways.
Checklist progress belongs to this project in this browser. It is not shared with collaborators and does not block export. A checked step still needs your own look in the game.
Choose the tile size
Every Euro Truck Simulator 2 export fills one square of the game world, 4,000 by 4,000 meters. You choose how much of the real place goes into it: a square tile from 2,000 to 8,000 meters, scaled to fit.
Choose 4,000 meters for a 1:1 map, where a kilometer of the real place is a kilometer in the game. Map Size, Terrain and Water explains what larger and smaller tiles change.
Build roads, bridges and tunnels
Follow Roads, Bridges, Tunnels and Traffic to set road widths, construct the roads, connect AI traffic and add bridges, tunnels, signs and guardrails.
Add railways
Use Railways, Overhead Lines and Level Crossings to turn railway lines into track, electrify them and check where they cross roads.
Add forests, buildings and scenery
Use Forests, Buildings and Scenery for trees, buildings, power lines, fences, rocks and your own models.
Export and drive
Follow Export, Installation and Prices to download the map, install it and drive it in the game.
Map a larger area
To cover more than one tile, create a Region: a grid of neighbouring projects that all add their part to one map in the game. Read Regions and the Region tile notes before you start one.
