Trash and Recovery

Recover removed projects and resource assets after a three-day cooldown, until permanent removal after sixty days.

Find removed work

Open Trash from the left menu at /trash. It shows removed project and resource assets for the selected team across all its workspaces. Switch teams to view a different team’s Trash. Search by name, use Filters to select an asset type, and choose All, Cooldown, Can restore, or Expired. The list has pagination and a Refresh button.

Projects, files, reusable DTM, imagery and vector uploads, processed sources, raster and vector layers, project versions, backup archives, exports, project preview images, models and custom collections go to Trash when removed. Older exports removed to make room under the saved export limit and projects removed by retention also go there. Removing a project preserves its saved contents together as one item. Profiles, avatars, banners, community attachments, and ordinary task history are outside Trash.

Cooldown and permanent deletion

Every removed item has a 72-hour cooldown on every plan: it cannot be restored during the first three days. Restoration then becomes available until permanent deletion at 60 days from removal. Each card shows when restoration unlocks and when permanent deletion happens. Items awaiting the cooldown show Cooldown with Restore disabled. There is no Empty Trash or early permanent removal action.

Items in Trash still count toward team storage until permanent cleanup finishes. Removing them frees active project slots, saved export slots, version slots and custom collection slots. Storage is released only when the retained item is permanently removed. Items cannot be downloaded, previewed, copied, edited, used in new tasks or exports, or shared while in Trash. Trash applies to removals made after this feature became available; it cannot recover previously deleted files.

Restore an item

Team owners, admins and creators can select Restore on an eligible item. Other team members can inspect the list and Details. Review the deadlines and confirm Restore. Restoring returns the saved item to its normal library, with its original saved contents. Returning items use active asset slots again. Their storage is already counted in Trash, so restoration does not add it again and remains possible at or over the current storage limit. A project needs a free active project slot; restore it into your selected workspace. If the old workspace was deleted, select or create another workspace in the same team first.

A project-owned asset needs its original project restored and active before it can return. Exports, versions and custom collections need an available slot under the current limits. Remove the current saved backup before restoring an older backup for that project. Private library collections and models require a plan that supports them. Private project collection copies remain available on every tier. If active capacity is full, free a slot and retry before the restoration deadline. Your item stays in Trash when restoration fails.

Restoring a project starts a fresh retention period. Opening a project by itself does not refresh retention; saving an update does. Removal does not refund previously spent Task units; their normal replenish window still applies. Recovery does not restart stopped tasks or exports, spend new Task units, create another project creation event, or overwrite a current project selection. A replaced layer returns as another saved layer. Keep downloaded project backups for longer term recovery.
